First Visit

Primera Visita Dental

The first dental visit should take place when your child’s first teeth come in, or earlier if there are breastfeeding issues. Usually, your pediatrician will refer you if necessary.

Our goal is to make your child’s first dental experience pleasant, fun, and positive. In our office, we want both children and parents to feel comfortable, which is why we invite parents to accompany their children to the treatment area.

We suggest that parents talk to their children in a positive way and explain what to expect from the dental visit in simple terms they can understand. For example: "I’m going to take you to the dentist. They’re going to count your teeth to see how many you have and clean them so they’re nice and shiny. I’ll be with you the whole time!"

For this appointment, your child should be accompanied by one or both parents. During the visit, an oral exam of the soft tissues and teeth will be conducted, along with an evaluation of your child’s dental development. We will review their medical and dental history and give them a tour of the office and equipment, explaining everything in terms they can understand. This appointment may include a dental cleaning, fluoride treatment, and X-rays if needed.

Education for both the child and the parents is an important part of this appointment. Parents will receive guidance on oral hygiene techniques, nutrition, development, and prevention, so they can implement these practices at home and maintain excellent oral health for their children.
